William Woods announces sale of university parcel to national grocer

William Woods University(WWU) today completed the sale of 2.9 acres of University property to ALDI, one of the fastest-growing grocers in the U.S.

The location of the parcel is at the eastern entrance to the University’s campus in Fulton, at the corner of University Avenue and Business 54. ALDI plans to begin construction of the new facility at the end of April, with the store expected to open in early 2025. As part of the transaction, William Woods will be closing the entrance to campus at University and Business 54 to all outside traffic.

“At William Woods, we have always prided ourselves on being good neighbors to our communities of Fulton and Callaway County,” said Dr. Jeremy Moreland, President of William Woods University. “We look forward to the opening of this new ALDI, a company that has routinely received top employer awards from national brands like Forbes magazine, which will benefit not only the City of Fulton and the county but also our students, staff and faculty.”

“Today marks an exciting day for the future of William Woods University, ALDI, and the City of Fulton, said Courtney L. Doyle, City of Fulton Director of Administration. “We are eager to welcome ALDI to our community, and we are certain they will contribute significantly to our economic ecosystem. This venture would not be possible without the noteworthy partnership and investment by William Woods University.”
