New Chief Information Officer appointed at William Woods University

Fulton, MO – Dr. Jahnae H. Barnett, President of William Woods University (WWU), today announced the appointment of Travis Bond of Fulton as the university’s new Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective today. Bond will replace Jim Long, who departed from the university earlier this year.

Serving as WWU’s Director of Enterprise Management Systems at the time of his new appointment, Bond brings 25 years of experience in Information Technology (IT) to his new cabinet-level role at William Woods.

As CIO, he will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance, including the development of Information Technology strategy and implementation of the university-wide computing system and network structure. He will direct and coordinate activities of IT staff responsible for administering and maintaining the operation of computer networks, hardware and software; oversee the administration and services of the Institutional Research, telephone and data systems, and administer department strategic planning, budgeting, analysis and institutional policy for IT and Institutional Research.

Bond’s vast experience includes serving as Director of IT and Database Administrator at WWU from 2015 until earlier this year, when he transitioned to Director of Enterprise Management Systems. Past positions include serving as senior computer information technologist for the Missouri Department of Transportation during 2014-2015; information systems specialist for the Missouri Attorney General’s Office Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (2009-2014) and information systems analyst for IKON Office Solutions (1994-2009).

“We are fortunate to have someone who not only possesses extensive experience in Information Systems, but is also already significantly familiar with our campus culture at William Woods, as our new CIO,” said President Barnett. “Travis will provide the strategic direction needed in this area that is critical to our university operations, helping move William Woods forward.”

A native of Russellville, Bond received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems, with a minor in Business, from Columbia (Mo.) College.
