New Director of Marketing appointed at William Woods University

Dr. Jeremy Moreland, President of William Woods University (WWU), has announced the appointment of Jennifer Horton of Columbia as the University’s new Director of Marketing. Horton’s first day in her new position at The Woods was on Monday, July 24.

Horton joins the WWU communications team with more than 20 years of experience in marketing and public relations, with extensive experience in higher education. In her new cabinet-level role at William Woods, she will be responsible for implementing the University’s marketing, advertising and promotional efforts, and assisting with other public relations initiatives with an emphasis on Admissions marketing. The Director of Marketing oversees and participates in a wide range of activities, from print advertising to special events, and is the planner and coordinator of strategies to promote the University and increase enrollment through advertising and paid media.

Horton’s most recent role was at the University of Missouri, Columbia College of Arts and Sciences, where she served as Director of Strategic Communications from 2019 until 2023, developing marketing strategies for Mizzou’s largest and most academically-diverse college (34 departments; 600 faculty; 7,000 students; four research centers; two museums and two ROTC programs). Her marketing and communications experience includes serving as a Strategic Communication Associate and Senior Communication Specialist for University of Missouri Health Care, and as Assistant Director and Site Liaison for the Health Communications Research Center at the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism. A native of Florissant, Missouri, Horton received her Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communication and Psychology from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and her Master’s in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
