William Woods University invites mid-Missouri high school students to submit their artwork for display in the “Missouri and I” high school art show exhibit.

The fourth annual Emerging Talent High School Art Show is open to all area high school students. Work will be displayed Jan. 12-30 in the Mildred M. Cox Art Gallery, and an opening reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 12.

High school students may submit artwork to the gallery through 4 p.m. Jan 6. Each student may submit one to four pieces of artwork; each piece must include the official entry form. A $10 entry fee will be charged per student, regardless of the number of entries.

All media are welcome. The work must be ready for professional presentation. Two-dimensional work must be dry, wired, framed and read to hang. No late entries will be accepted.

Nicole Petrescu, gallery coordinator, and the William Woods art committee curate the art show.

“The Emerging Talent High School Art Show is a great way for William Woods to get to know artistic high school students, and for those students to get to know William Woods, as well,” said Petrescu.

First, second and third place will be awarded. A Best of Show also will be chosen. The student who creates the Best of Show piece will be awarded an honorary $1,000 scholarship toward art studies at William Woods.

“I am very excited about the opening,” Petrescu said. “I can’t wait to meet the students and award the scholarship.”
