An internationally acclaimed musical about a group of die-hard bingo players who will stop at nothing to miss their weekly game is set to kick off the 2017-2018 Mainstage theatre season at William Woods University (WWU). The first performance of the production will take place this Thursday, October 5 in Dulany Auditorium on the WWU campus.
“Bingo: The Winning Musical,” a fun-loving tale centered around the classic game, is a universal story of friendship that appeals to all audiences and performers young and old. In between the game’s number calling, strange rituals and fierce competition, love blossoms and long lost friends reunite. Produced by Michael Heitzman, Ilene Reid, and David Holcenberg, Bingo has enjoyed a very successful Off-Broadway run while also receiving great acclaim around the world, including in Canada, Japan, and Australia.
“Come join us for plenty of brass, sass and lots of fun!” said Joe Potter, Artistic Director of the William Woods University Theatre Department.
Bingo is the first of four productions being staged this academic year by the WWU Theatre Department. Others included All Through The Night (Nov. 30-Dec. 2, 2017); Faith County (Feb. 22-24, 2018) and Peter and Wendy (April 19-21, 2018).
Performances for Bingo will take place October 5, 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee showing on Saturday at 2 p.m., all in Dulany Auditorium.
Ticket prices vary: $10 for adults, $5 for children (6-12), $7 for WWU faculty and staff, and $6 for seniors (62+). Group rates are available for groups of 10 or more. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.williamwoods.edu/mainstage, or call (573)592-4267.
