Barbara Loring Foster, Andre Cook appointments are effectively immediately
William Woods University (WWU) today announced the appointment of Barbara Loring Foster and Andre Cook to the William Woods Board of Trustees. The appointments of Foster and Cook were voted on unanimously by the university’s current governing board and are effective immediately.
Foster, of Kansas City, Missouri, works at Creative Planning, a wealth advisory firm based in Kansas City, where she serves as Director of Practice Development. During her career as a teacher, an executive in banking and finance, and a consultant, she has held leadership roles on numerous non-profit boards in the Kansas City community, including Front Porch Alliance, Te Deum, Planet Play, Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey, and Start at Zero. She is currently Advisory Board Chair of Te Deum as well as Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey and a member of the Classical KC Advisory Council. In addition to her board roles and business experience, Foster has also worked in the political arena, serving as a fundraiser, finance chair and finance committee member for political campaigns in her area.
Foster graduated from William Woods in 1980 with a degree in Special and Elementary Education.
Cook, of Columbia, Missouri, currently works in the Human Resources Department for the City of Columbia. A 33-year veteran of law enforcement, he retired in 2013 after serving as the Chief of Detectives for the Fulton (Mo.) Police Department, working his way up through the ranks as a police officer, sergeant and lieutenant with experience in patrol, K-9, investigations, narcotics and administration. Active on numerous boards, Cook is a past member of the YMCA, Callaway County, Board of Directors; Secretary of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 44; Board of Directors Callaway County Crime Stoppers; Board of Directors Spirit Riders of Crosswind Ranch; Callaway Community Response Team; Board of Directors, The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri; Board of Directors Columbia Police Foundation, and past president of the Fulton Rotary Club.
He graduated from William Woods with a degree in Business (B.S.), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and is a life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
