William Woods University (WWU) is a great destination for students that transfer from community colleges. And now, the university’s efforts to ensure the success of these students has resulted in a recognition from a prestigious international honor society.
Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society of two-year colleges and academic programs, recently named William Woods to its Transfer Honor Roll for 2018, which recognizes excellence in community college transfer pathways. One of 112 colleges and universities of all sizes from across the nation to be so honored, William Woods is one of just four institutions in the state of Missouri to be chosen for the 2018 Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll.
Criteria for the honor includes proficiency in the areas of scholarships, financial aid, admissions outreach, student support services and student engagement opportunities.
“Our commitment to attracting transfer students to William Woods includes providing quick transcript evaluations, personalized degree plans, prompt assessments and academic scholarship opportunities, all designed to facilitate a smooth and quick transition for all incoming transfer students,” said Kathy Groves, Vice President of Admissions at William Woods University. “We are honored to be recognized by Phi Theta Kappa for our efforts in this area.”
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) is an international honor society of two-year colleges and academic programs, with emphasis on state colleges and community colleges and including Associate’s degree-granting programs offered by four-year colleges. PTK has more than two million members in more than 1,250 chapters, found in every U.S. state and eight foreign countries. The organization’s mission is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students by providing opportunity for the development of leadership and service; for an intellectual climate for the exchange of ideas and ideals; lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
