William Woods announces launch of two new online doctoral degree programs

Doctorates in Business Administration and Curriculum and Instruction will be five-week classes under Woods Global

Fulton, MO – Building on its traditional strengths in Business and Education, today William Woods University(WWU) announced the addition of two new doctorate degree programs, a Ph.D. in Business Administration and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. Both programs will be fully online, five week classes, and will begin being offered during the Summer session beginning in May.

The two new doctorates are part of the WWU’s Woods Global initiative, which was established in 2022 to significantly expand the university’s online degree offerings. The advanced degrees strengthen the William Woods mission of being a professions-oriented institution, meeting the demand of today’s business and education employers and the needs of Master’s students.

“Our online Ph.D in Business Administration prepares students to address real-world challenges through research,” said Dr. Miriam O’Callaghan, Executive Dean of the WWU School of Business and Technology. “With no residency requirement, students can customize a nine-credit specialization and align it with their dissertation focus. This flexible, rigorous program empowers graduates to solve complex business problems with innovative, research-based approaches.”

Both programs offer significant advantages to prospective students compared to other similar degree programs. These include a flexible and rigorous academic experience with no residency requirement, allowing students to complete the program remotely; the ability to transfer up to 27 credit hours from their Master’s-level coursework if aligned with the program curriculum; dissertations may be completed in either a traditional five-chapter format or a three-article format, giving students the option to choose a structure that best fits their research approach; and the program can be completed in as little as two years or up to seven years, depending on the student’s schedule, pacing, and credit transfer eligibility.

Students in the Curriculum and Instruction programs also benefit from “Woods Wednesdays,” a weekly meeting in which they can connect and network with other students and professionals in the field.

“Our Doctor of Education Program in Curriculum and Instruction provides educational leaders with thought-provoking and research-based content leading to innovative and bold approaches to curriculum development and instruction,” said Dr. Frank Giuseffi, Assistant Professor of Education and Chair of Doctoral Studies Ed.D. at William Woods. “As students take each 5-week course, they feel a sense of timely accomplishment, receive support attending weekly optional virtual learning sessions, and apply knowledge to real-world issues in education.”
