Fulton, MO – William Woods University (WWU) has long prided itself as the higher education institution with the most prestigious Equestrian Science program in the nation. Over the past ten days, the university reinforced its lofty ranking with a number of championships won by both William Woods faculty and students at three recent high-level competitions.
At the Color Breed Congress in Tulsa, Oklahoma (November 2-11), Jennie Petterson, Professor of Equestrian Studies, was crowned Champion Open Ranch Rail Pleasure, Solid Reserve Champion All Breed Open Ranch Rail Pleasure. Senior Whitney Joy was Champion Amateur Ranch Trail, Solid and Champion Amateur Ranch Rail Pleasure, Solid and of the Open Discipline Rail English class. Sophmore Sarah Eliason won the Congress Championship in the Youth Senior Western Showmanship. Senior Chrissy Vinton was Champion Open Western Pleasure Solid.
At the United Professional Horsemen’s Association American Royal National Championship Horse Show, held in suburban Kansas City (November 5-11), five William Woods students captured championships, including graduate student Alix Polydoros in the ASB 3 Gaited MO/KS Stake; junior Savanna Miller, Reserve Champion in the ASB 3 Gaited Park MO/KS Stake; senior Taylor Woods, Champion, ASB 5 Gaited Show Pleasure MO/KS Stake; junior Kasey Nolan, Reserve Champion, ASB 5 Gaited Show Pleasure MO/KS Stake; and senior Emma Caruso, Champion, ASB Amateur/Jr. Exhibitor 5 Gaited MO/KS Stake.
And at the Queenie Productions Lake St. Louis Hunter Jumper Show outside St. Louis (November 7-11), sophomore Kate Thompson and senior Lauren Hagen were Champion and Reserve Champion in the Schooling Jumpers.
