Longtime higher education professional brings deep experience in academic affairs, operational insights and educational technology to new role
Dr. Jeremy Moreland, President of William Wood University(WWU), today announced the appointment of Ted Blashak, Ed.D., as the new University Provost at the institution. Currently serving as the Vice-President and Chief Student Experience Officer at WWU, Dr. Blashak will succeed Dr. Aimee Sapp, who accepted the position as President of Meredith University on March 27.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ted Blashak to the critically important position of Provost at William Woods,” said President Moreland. “Dr. Blashak’s nearly 30 years of experience in higher education, including serving as the first-ever Chief Student Experience Officer in William Woods history, makes him a natural to serve the University as Provost. His extensive background in academic affairs, operational insights and educational technology enhancements will allow us to effectively serve a variety of traditional and online students for the foreseeable future.”
As University Provost, Dr. Blashak will have the responsibility of overseeing all of the University’s academic schools and modalities, including the Schools of Education, Business and Technology, Equestrian Studies, Science and Health, Humanities and Social Sciences. Additionally, the Provost also oversees the operations and activities of the following sectors on campus: Dulany Library, Office of the Registrar, Institutional Effectiveness, ADA, Advising, Academic Success Center, Accreditation, Institutional Research, Academy Ceremony and Tradition, Faculty Assembly, Honors Program, First-Year Experience and Retention.
Prior to joining William Woods in March 2022, Dr. Blashak served as Vice-President of Institutional Success and Partnership Operations at Acadeum, Inc., a higher education consulting firm based in Austin, Texas. Additional experience includes serving as Vice-Provost of Online, Graduate and Adult Education at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida (2019-2021); serving as Regional Vice-President of Operations for ZOVIO, Inc. (2015-2019), an education technology services company; President of South University (Novi, Michigan) from 2011-2015; President of The Art Institute of Michigan (2007-2011); Corporate Vice-President of Business Research and Effectiveness at Apollo Education Group (2005-2007) and State Vice-President, Campus Director, Associate Campus Director of Finance and Enrollment and Director of Admissions at the University of Phoenix campuses in Detroit, Michigan (1996-2005). Dr. Blashak received his Doctorate (Ed.D) in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix in 2010. He earned his Master’s (Education: Training and Learning Technologies) in 1992 and his Bachelor’s (Organizational Communication) in 1991, both degrees earned from the University of New Mexico.
