The annual Callaway County Chamber of Commerce Teacher Appreciation Breakfast will take place this week, and for the first time in the event’s history, it will be hosted on the campus of William Woods University (WWU).
All K-12 teachers in Callaway County, approximately 650 educators, are invited to the fifth annual gathering, which will be this Wednesday, August 17 from 9:30 a.m. until noon at WWU’s Cutlip Auditorium. The event will include the awarding of the Innovation Grant scholarship that is jointly presented by WWU and Westminster College each year, and a presentation by Education motivational speaker Jeremy Anderson.
“We are excited to partner with the Chamber to host the annual Teachers Appreciation Breakfast on our campus for the first time, and demonstrate our steadfast support for the more than 600 education professionals in Callaway County,” said Dr. Jeremy Moreland, President of William Woods University. “When you consider our Education degree programs, pivotal role in producing the state’s educational K-12 leadership, and scholarship and tuition discount programs, you could say that every day is teacher appreciation day at William Woods.”
Regularly ranked by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as one of the top providers of K-12 school principals, assistant superintendents and superintendents across the state of Missouri each year, William Woods recently established two programs in the past year to support education in Callaway County.
The WWU Tuition Discount Program is a 10% tuition discount that WWU extends to all employees of school districts in Callaway County, and all employees of Callaway County Chamber of Commerce member organizations. The discount applies to all online programs at William Woods, including undergraduate, graduate and certificate.
The Grow Your Own Scholarship is awarded annually to a William Woods student who is a Fulton native and majoring in Education who agrees to teach in the Fulton Public Schools for a minimum of four years following graduation from WWU. The recipient of the Grow Your Own Scholarship receives $6,000 that can be directed toward tuition.
