William Woods University (WWU) today announced the recent appointments of Angelette Prichett to the position of Associate Dean of Academic Student Services, and Selena Meints as Director of Student Disability Services. Both additions are effective immediately.
As Associate Dean of Academic Student Services, Prichett is responsible for supervising academic support services, including the registrar’s office, disability services, advising, and the University’s academic success center. She will also ensure academic support offices coordinate efforts to efficiently support students; serve as liaison between academic support offices and the admissions office; serve as a member of the curriculum committee; make approval recommendations to the Vice President of Academic Affairs regarding new programs, curricular changes, and individual student requests for waivers to academic policy; address student concern regarding curriculum and work collaboratively with other associate deans.
Prichette comes to WWU with more than ten years’ experience in higher education leadership, collaboration, strategic planning and policy, as well as more than 20 years of experience in Social Work. For the past ten years, she has served in increasingly responsible positions with the Missouri Department of Higher Education, including as Director of Academic Affairs, where she developed the strategic plan, budget and initiative priorities for the department’s academic affairs division and served as the state’s chief academic officer. Additional higher education experience includes adjunct faculty positions with Columbia College and Central Methodist University. Prichette also worked as a social worker for St. Mary’s Hospital, Boone Hospital and the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, where she received both her bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees (Social Work and Higher Education Administration).
As Director of Student Disability Services, Meints serves as the campus liaison between students with documented disabilities and University staff and faculty, while overseeing the provision of American Sign Language interpreting services. Responsibilities include evaluating documentation and establishing services for students, faculty and staff; recruiting, training, and supervising note-takers, readers, and scribes for students; ensuring compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and its amendments and other federal laws; staying abreast of changes in disability laws and best practices in accommodations and required services; maintaining confidential records of student services; contracting for and coordinating interpreting services for WWU classes and events; coordinating materials that need to be provided in alternative formats and meeting with prospective students with disabilities and their families to discuss possible services. Meints joins William Woods from Illinois Central College in Peoria, Illinois, where she served as Access Services Specialist/Testing Administrator and Proctor since September 2019. Previous experience includes an internship with the Illinois Department of Employment Security, serving as an administrative assistant in the advising department at the University of Illinois-Springfield, and as a test administrator/proctor at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois. She has an associate’s degree in political science from Lincoln Land Community College, a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University Illinois-Springfield, and is currently completing an online master’s degree in higher education administration from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
