Fulton, MO – The 2018-2019 Mainstage Season Series at William Woods University (WWU) will continue this week with a production of the provocative dark comedy, “Eurydice.” The opening performance of the play will take place this Thursday, February 21, at Cutlip Auditorium in the McNutt Campus Center on the WWU campus.
The play tells the story of Eurydice, who on the day of her wedding, falls victim to a tragic accident that sends her hurtling into a wonderland of an Underworld. Ripped from her beloved Orpheus, the greatest musician in the world, Eurydice is reunited with her dead father in the Land of the Dead. Orpheus journeys there to retrieve his bride, but Eurydice has begun to discover that the cost of living again can sometimes exceed the cost of staying dead.
Full of dark humor, lyrical beauty, and wit, “Eurydice” transforms a traditional myth into a visceral, contemporary meditation on love worth grieving for.
Performances for Eurydice will take place on February 21-23 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee showing on Saturday, February 23 at 2 p.m., all in Cutlip Auditorium. The play is intended for mature audiences.
