William Woods University to host thought-provoking “Resilient Souls Project” exhibition

Fulton, MO – An powerful exhibit that focuses on the inner strength of a series of women in overcoming life’s challenges is coming to William Woods University (WWU). “The Resilient Souls Project” will run on the WWU campus for two weeks beginning March 15 at the Mildred Cox Gallery. Admission to Cox Gallery is free.

Portrait of a womenThe Resilient Souls Project exhibit is powerful traveling exhibition which encourages the inner strength in every individual through portraits and writing. The exhibit is a 20-year follow up to photographer Cathy Lander-Goldberg’s “Resilient Souls: Young Women’s Portraits and Words,” which explored issue such as disabilities, mental health, unhealthy relationships, illness, adoption, pregnancy, immigration, eating disorders, school problems, violence and grief. Two decades later, this new exhibit revisits these women’s continued journeys, including their low points, triumphs and growth, as they approach middle age.

The Resilient Souls Project exhibit will be on display at the Cox Gallery in the Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts on the William Woods campus. The show will run from Friday, March 15 until Friday, March 29, with an opening reception on March 18 from 4-6 p.m.

In addition, Ms. Lander-Goldberg will conduct a special workshop on Monday, March 18 from 12-1:30 p.m.

Cox Gallery is open 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
