St. Louis County’s only 4-H Club dedicated to horsemanship, Ace Bronco Bunch, will hold a youth-only clinic Thursday-Sunday (July 22-25) at William Woods University. Approximately 20 riders and their parents are expected to attend.
Designed for youth ages 10-18, the clinic was started to provide club members with the opportunity to expand horsemanship skills in a number of different seats. Classes offered will include showmanship, horsemanship, jumping, western pleasure, speed events and reining.
The young aspiring riders arrive at WWU Thursday night and start classes early Friday morning. Other activities include arena football games and decorating t-shirts to be worn on Sunday’s horseshow, which will close the weekend clinic and give the participants a chance to showcase their newly acquired skills.
“This weekend provides the participants with an opportunity to improve their existing skills and also have the chance to learn about a new discipline, if they choose,” said Robin Vogt, adult leader for Ace Bronco Bunch. “The kids have a great time. It is a time to spend with friends, human and equine!”
The cost for participants is $120, which includes room, board, meals and show entry fees. The youth riders will stay in a residence hall on the university campus, as will their parents, but in a separate wing.
