Four William Woods University students will represent Missouri in the National Athletic Trainers’ Association District 5 Quiz Bowl.
William Woods hosted the jeopardy-style competition March 6 to determine which of the 11 accredited athletic training education programs in Missouri would represent the Missouri Athletic Trainers’ Association (MoATA) in the district competition.
WWU took first with 1,175 points, followed by Missouri State University with 425 points, Culver-Stockton College with 400 points and Lindenwood University with 300 points. Others competing were Central Methodist University, Southeast Missouri State University and Missouri Valley College. Truman State University, Park University, Southwest Baptist University and Central Missouri State University did not participate.
WWU team members are Katie Buehrle, a senior from Wentzville, Mo., and juniors Anna Caseleggi of St. Louis, Mo.; Staci Gray of Blue Springs, Mo., and alternate, Chelsea Loethen of Meta, Mo.
The District 5 Quiz Bowl will take place March 27-28 in Columbia, Mo. The district includes Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.
The winner of the district competition will move on to the National Quiz Bowl, which will take place in June at the annual national meeting.
