A team of William Woods University students took third place in the National Athletic Trainers’ Association District 5 Quiz Bowl March 27-28 in Columbia, Mo., competing against teams from Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.
WWU team members were Katie Buehrle, a senior from Wentzville, Mo., and juniors Anna Caseleggi of St. Louis, Mo.; Staci Gray of Blue Springs, Mo., and alternate, Chelsea Loethen of Meta, Mo.
Central College, which represented Iowa, was awarded first place and will move on to the National Quiz Bowl, which will take place in June at the annual national meeting.
The students earned the right to represent Missouri by winning the state competition. William Woods hosted a jeopardy-style competition March 6 to determine which of the 11 accredited athletic training education programs in Missouri would represent the Missouri Athletic Trainers’ Association (MoATA) in the district competition.
