WWU Students, Faculty Win Awards for Annual Photography Contest

Lydia Gaboury, a senior in physical education from Columbia, Mo., took first place in the third annual Campus Photography Contest at William Woods University.

Students and faculty entered photos they had taken during the past year at WWU, and 24 entries were received. The contest was co-sponsored by the offices of student life and marketing/university relations.

Gaboury won for her photo of a soccer player on crutches kicking a ball. Dr. Mary Spratt, professor of biology, placed second for her picture of Senior Lake in the fall. Brynn Elliot, a senior in ASL interpreting from New Castle, Wyo., got third for her photo of an iced-over Senior Lake.

Two students received honorable mention awards—Melissa White, a senior in graphic design from Columbia, Mo., for her photo of teammates putting their hands together in a circle, and Gaboury, for her photo of two ducks looking at Senior Lake.

Judges for the event were Barbara Scott Dawdy, vice president and chief marketing officer; Vikky Bucher, administrative assistant in the Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts, and Neil Stanglein, coordinator of Greek life and student involvement.
