Megan Eldridge, a junior at William Woods University, is starting a new campus organization in honor of her grandfather, who died of cancer this past summer.
Called “Colleges Against Cancer” (CAC), the organization will have an introductory meeting for students and faculty of William Woods and Westminster College at 6 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 26) in WWU’s Library Auditorium.
There are currently 175 CAC chapters across the country. Eldridge has been working with some of them to find out how to bring CAC to William Woods.
Eldridge hopes to raise awareness and support for cancer victims doing some of the same activities other colleges have done, including Relay for Life events, hosting cancer support groups, and promoting awareness and prevention programs for different types of cancer.
“We want to do any type of activity on campus that will raise awareness and educate people,” Eldridge said.
