Courtney Yantes, a sophomore at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., received a Student Alumni Council Outstanding Sophomore Award at the university’s co-curricular honors banquet, April 20.
She is the daughter of Jerry and Nancy Yantes of Plain City, Ohio.
The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.
She was honored for her involvement in campus organizations and service projects. A member of Delta Gamma sorority, she is the secretary and past treasurer of campus Panhellenic and she is a community advisor for her residence hall.
Active in Campus Crusade for Christ, she is director of outreach, coordinator of Women’s Time and leader of Greek Women’s Bible Study. She attended the Campus Crusade for Christ Greek Conference this spring and the Denver Christmas Conference for Campus Crusade for Christ in 2003.
She has volunteered her time as a counselor at Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp and a server at the Faith Maternity Care Benefit Banquet. She also has participated in the First Baptist Church’s Women’s Mentoring Night.
