Matthew Nachreiner of Mexico, Mo., has received a scholarship from Missouri Colleges Fund (MCF) in recognition of his accomplishments at William Woods University. He is a senior, majoring in secondary history and social studies education.
Money for the scholarship came from Citi Foundation, which provided $102,000 to Missouri Colleges Fund to fund 30 unrestricted $3,400 teacher-preparation scholarships at MCF-member independent colleges and universities.
The Citi Foundation Teacher Preparation scholarship is given to a graduating senior who intends to teach in a public school in Missouri next fall.
He is involved in several campus activities, including History Club, Campus Crusade for Christ and the Campus Activities Board. He is currently student teaching at Mexico High School.
The son of Mark and Evelyn Nachreiner, he is a graduate of Mexico High School and hopes to teach in or near Mexico.
