WWU schedules Fall Family Weekend

William Woods University will hold its annual Fall
Family Weekend Oct. 7-8. With nearly 1,000 students on campus this year, a
large crowd is expected for the weekend.

“Fall Family Weekend is an opportunity for our
students to invite their families to experience William Woods as they do—from
attending classes and LEAD events to enjoying omelets in Tucker Dining Hall,”
said Venita Mitchell, vice president and dean of student life.
Fall Family Weekend includes a number of special
events—a play, a horse show, a golf tournament, an animal exhibit, an art show
and a trivia night.
The WWU theatre department will perform the first main
stage production of the year, “The Drowsy Chaperone,” Friday and Saturday at
7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
In addition, the annual Fall Festival horse show will
be held in the Bettina Bancroft Equestrian Center and UPHA Arena. The show features
all four riding seats at WWU, and it begins on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
A golf tournament, hosted by the WWU golf coach, Barry
Doty, will begin with registration at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Tanglewood Golf
Course. A four-person shot-gun scramble begins at 1 p.m.
The weekend activities also include an animal exhibit
sponsored by the Campus Activities Board. It will be held on the lawn of the
McNutt Campus Center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit includes
snakes, reptiles and other friendly animals.
The WWU Faculty Art Exhibit will be on display in the
Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts both days until 4 p.m.
WWU’s pre-law fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta, will host a
trivia night for families at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Aldridge Recreation Center.
