William Woods Saddle Seat riders travelled to Columbus, Ohio, for the River Ridge Charity Horse show, April 20-25, and came home with championship ribbons.
Murphy McSemek of Dayton, Ohio, rode a horse from Ray Krussell Stables and won Champion in the Open English Pleasure Championship. Addie Miller of Watertown, Minn., rode Oedse K, a university-owned Friesian to Reserve Champion in the same class.
Kaitlyn Alemian of East Weymouth, Mass., riding Enchanted Hour, took second place in Amateur Three-Gaited and fourth in the Amateur Three-Gaited Championship.
Alyssa Boushon of Fulton, Mo., rode Keep It Simple to a second place in Amateur Park Pleasure.
Danielle Costanza of Castle Creek, N.Y., had great success riding High Times Wild Pistol, winning a first in Amateur Morgan English Pleasure and Reserve Champion Morgan Amateur English Pleasure.
Emily Abbott of Zionsville, Ind., rode After Eight to a third place in ASB Amateur Park A.
During the show, Sandy Sessink, clinical instructor of equestrian studies, commented, “We have been amazed at how well the show is turning out, since we knew we were coming to a VERY competitive horse show. It’s a Who’s Who here!”
