WWU Riders Compete in Summerfest Horse Show

Two William Woods University alumni and a student competed in the Midstates 25th Anniversary Summerfest AA Show in Mason City, Iowa. Each of the three riders came home with multiple awards in the competition.

 


May 2009 graduate Kate Woodard and her horse, Get in Line, placed seventh of 21 competitors in Low Training Jumping (3’), fifth of 22 competitors in 1.0 meter Jumper, and fourth of 25 competitors in Low Child/Adult Jumper (3’3”). Woodard is from rural Madison County, Iowa.

 

Alumna Colleen Harper-Hertzog of Fulton rode Vainquer in her competitions, placing fourth and sixth of 25 competitors in Low Child/Adult Jumpers.

 

WWU student Ann Kiddy of Cabot, Ark., and Colonia placed first, third, sixth and took the Championship over 30 competitors in High Child/Adult Jumpers.

 

The riders were coached by Dr. Linda McClaren, professor of equestrian science at WWU.
