Alarie Sims, a junior at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., received a Student Alumni Council Outstanding Junior Award at the university’s co-curricular honors banquet, April 20.
The daughter of Warren and Cheryl Sims of Blue Springs, she is a business administration major and theatre minor.
The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.
Sims was a recipient of an Outstanding Freshman Award in 2003.
She was honored for her involvement in campus organizations and service projects, including secretary of University Ambassadors, class representative for three years on Student Alumni Council, secretary of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, Community Advisor for two years and selected as a head advisor for 2005-06 school year.
Sims has worked with all philanthropies on campus and is active with CARD-V (Coalition Against Rape and Domestic Violence), Up ’Til Dawn for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the Miss Missouri Scholarship Program.
She also is involved in all campus theatre productions and is a member of Jester’s Theatre Club, Student Assembly and Phi Beta Lambda business fraternity.
