WWU Hunter-Jumpers Win Ribbons at American Royal

Students from William Woods University captured numerous ribbons at the American Royal Hunter Jumper Horse Show. Ten students competed in a variety of classes featuring hunter and jumper horses, Oct. 29-Nov. 4 in Kansas City, Mo.


Whitney Miller of Boise, Idaho riding Get In Line, received a blue ribbon in Level One Jumpers, 1st and 5th place in Amateur Adult Jumpers and 7th place in Level Three Jumpers.


Sarah Popelka of Clayton, Mo. and Jackalope took home a blue ribbon in Level One Jumpers and 6th place in Amateur Adult Jumpers.


Rachael Hill of Carrollton, Texas on Django earned a blue ribbon in Level One Jumpers and a blue ribbon in Level Two Jumpers.


Trish Clark of Frankfort, Ill., and Giles received 2nd place in the American Royal Hunter Under Saddle, 3’ Open Hunter Under Saddle and 3rd place in Limit Rider Hunter Under Saddle.


Kristen French of Overland Park, Kan. and Charmed won 4th place in 2’6” Open Hunter, 5th place in Limit Rider Hunter Under Saddle, 6th in Limit Rider Hunter and 8th place in 2’6” Open Hunter Under Saddle.


Elise Bellefontaine of Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, and Northern Slope took 7th place in Adult Amateur Jumpers.


Kathryn Best of Medicine Hat, Canada and Rise Above received 8th place in Adult Amateur Jumpers.


Marissa Parenti of Hooksett, N.H., and Mane Event earned 6th and 8th place in Adult Amateur Hunters 18-35.

Blair Hackel of New Canaan, Conn., rode her own horse, Jaslo, to earn 1st place and Reserve Champion in 3’6” Open Hunters, and 4th and 6th place in Adult Amateur Hunters 18-35.


Alumna Colleen Harper-Hertzog of Fulton, Mo. and Cosmic Cowboy received 7th place in 3’ Open Hunters and a 5th, two 6ths and two 7th places in Adult Amateur Hunters 35 and over.


All horses, other than Hackel’s, are owned by William Woods University.
