The tables were turned on the William Woods University Horse Judging Team last week when the team itself got judged.
The team competed at the 2004 Morgan Grand Nationals in Oklahoma City Oct. 13-17, and was named Reserve National Champion Judging Team.
Team members are Meagan Reed of Coon Rapids, Minn; Joy Brinkmeyer of Ames, Iowa; Carole Fountain of Springfield, Neb., and Sarah Dyer of Raytown, Mo.
The team had to judge and place eight classes of Morgan Horses, and give oral reasons on why they placed the class on four classes. The team was high scoring in the performance horse classes, and placed second in the in-hand and reasons divisions. Team member Meagan Reed was the second high scoring individual in the over-all placings.
Approximately 28 teams competed in Oklahoma City. Horse Judging is an equestrian class offered each spring semester. Faculty advisor/coach Karen Craighead meets twice weekly with the team to practice.
All the prizes won by the team will be on display in the showcase in the equestrian classroom through the end of the semester.
