WWU Graduate Finalist for Teaching Award

William Woods University graduate Ellen Gott of Chillicothe is one five Missouri teachers selected as finalists in the 2005 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching program.


One mathematics teacher and one science teacher from Missouri will be selected next spring for the national award.


A maximum of 108 Presidential Awardees are chosen to represent the 50 states and four U.S. jurisdictions. Recipients of the 2005 Presidential Awards receive a paid trip for two to Washington D.C., to attend a week-long series of networking and professional development activities. Each honoree also will receive $10,000 from the National Science Foundation.


Gott received her master of education degree from WWU in December 2004. She teaches mathematics at Chillicothe Middle School.
