WWU brings home American Royal Champions

The William Woods University hunter jumper show team was well represented at the American Royal Nov 2-6.

Amara Packwood of Leavenworth, Kan., was champion in the Adult Amateur Jumper Division with her own horse, and Fawn McDaniel of Dover, Mass., was reserve champion in the division on WWU’s Jackalope. There were 27 horses in the division.

McDaniel and Jackalope also won fourth out of 45 horse/rider combinations in the MASCUP Child/Adult Jumper Classic and Reserve Champion in the Zone 7 Child/Adult Jumper Finals.

WWU had four horse/rider combinations in the top 15 of the 45-horse Jumper Classic. Packwood and her horse; McDaniel and Jackalope; Sarah Popelka of Clayton, Mo., and Get In Line, and Jojo Levy of Clayton, Mo., and Rum Point all went clean in the first round of the classic over a tough course. The course was designed by Steve Stephens, nationally acclaimed course designer of the American Invitational Open Jumper Championships.

The other members of the WWU show team brought home ribbons in very big classes in the Adult Amateur Hunters (Kelly Bosacker of Lake Mills, Iowa, and J. Arthur; Christine Lee of Memphis, Tenn., and Import 22).

WWU was also well represented in the Open Jumpers level 2 and the Adult Amateur Jumpers by Rachel Davis of Wright City, Mo., and Woodland’s Eclipse; Ashley Stannard of Plymouth, Minn., and Outstanding; Sarah Popelka and Get in Line; Lyndsay Morgan of Fort Collins, Colo., and Madison Avenue, and Jojo Levy and Rum Point. Ashley Stannard won third place in a big Ariat Adult Equitation class.
