William Woods University recently welcomed a new student organization, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, to campus. Fellowship of Christian Athletes is the largest Christian campus ministry in the world, found on more than 7,000 campuses worldwide.
The goal of FCA is to combine a passion for sports with a passion for Christ. It allows students and coaches the opportunity to study the Bible and share their faith on campus. Each meeting begins with prayer and praise and worship, followed by a lesson, and closes with prayer and announcements. It is open to any student on campus who is interested in learning more about the Bible and Christ, not just athletes.
“It is important to me because I believe that fellowship with other Christians is crucial for spiritual growth,” said Marisa Benthusen of Raymore, Mo., one of the student leaders.
“I hope to gain friendship with other athletes and people I would not normally come into contact with in my daily routine. Hopefully we can grow spiritually together and be there for one another as a support system.”
