English honor students at William Woods University are sponsoring a writing contest to recognize young writers throughout Callaway County.
The contest, which is sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, is open to students in kindergarten through grade 8, and will be judged by members of the honor society.
Students may submit original prose or poetry on any theme, in any style. Teachers in all Callaway County schools, as well as the Home School Association, have received entry packets. Additional entry packets are available for students and parents who may wish to submit their writing directly to WWU. The deadline for submission is March 31.
Two pieces will be selected from each grade level. The winning selections will be published in a small booklet, and each winner will receive the booklet.
Also, winners will receive prizes and be invited to read their winning submission at the English Festival to be held at 7 p.m. April 20 in the library auditorium on the William Woods campus.
For more information or to receive an entry packet, contact Dr. Katricia Pierson, assistant professor of English, at (573) 592-1107 or email@example.com.
