Brittany Welton of Willow Springs, Mo., a sophomore at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., received a Student Alumni Council Outstanding Sophomore Award at the university’s co-curricular honors banquet, April 18.
She is the daughter of Floyd and Fern Welton.
The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.
Welton is vice president of communications for Alpha Chi Omega sorority, a member of Phi Beta Lambda and Campus Crusade for Christ. She is a Freshman Advantage mentor, a Peer Mentor and a member of Student Assembly.
Her community service includes volunteering as a Young Life leader, working at Red Cross blood drives and being a member of the Gathering Founder. Welton also is active in St. Jude’s Up Til Dawn, raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
