William Woods University Launches Smartphone App

William Woods University recently made a move to stay
connected with students and prospective students in the digital age.

The university launched an official smartphone app,
allowing students, alumni, faculty and staff to stay connected with all of the
happenings on the WWU campus. The app is available for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch
and Android users

“It’s a way to target our audience in a new and different
way,” said Kristina Bright, marketing and creative director.  “Young people, especially, can relate to
messages they see on a smartphone.”

WWU’s mobile app, developed by Straxis Technology, is
free and allows anyone to easily access announcements of campus events, athletics,
the admissions application and lots of other information. It also includes a
live stream of the campus radio station, 94.9 The Pulse.

“The WWU mobile app offers something for everyone,” Bright
said. “We developed the app to keep current with the digital age, and we tailored
it for prospective students. Staying up-to-date with all aspects of the campus
is something that any student can appreciate about this app.”

One feature of the app is a campus map that provides a
virtual tour of the school, mapping the user’s current location in relation to
the surrounding area. The app also gives the current weather, which is
convenient for current students and prospective students who want to know what
to expect for the seven-day forecast.

“This app makes our close-knit campus even more
accessible to students in all aspects of university life,” said Lauren
Greenwald, a senior equestrian science major from Houston, Texas.
