William Woods University has hired Tiffany Smith as director of content and publicity for the marketing and communications office. It is a new position, charged with telling the stories of the William Woods community.
Smith comes to WWU from Boston, where she oversaw content marketing for Bentley University. There she acted as director of content and “chief storyteller” for one of the nation’s leading business schools, coordinating several blogs and the university magazine (which won a 2016 silver CASE award for magazine publishing improvement).
Previously, she worked for Care.com, serving as associate editor and senior associate editor. There she managed articles, blogs, infographics, videos, etc. for a site with over 14,000 members. Before that she was publishing project manager and development editor for West, where she wrote and edited business and legal articles and blog posts for one of the world’s largest publishers, Thomson Reuters.
Originally from New York City, Smith started working for Time, Inc. as an editorial intern for Time for Kids, a weekly news magazine, while a student at Fordham University in Bronx, New York. After earning a B.A. in English, she served as an editorial assistant and eventually assistant editor for All You, a monthly women’s service magazine published by Time, Inc.
She has written freelance articles for numerous local and national publications, including the Boston Globe, MasterCard, Newton Living, STUFF, Biz Bash Media, ShopSmart, Relate and AOL Kids.
With the arrival of Smith, Mary Ann Beahon, director of university relations for the past 18 years, enters into semi-retirement, taking on a new role as writer/editor.
