Families from across the country will arrive at William Woods University to reunite with their children and get a taste of college life during the upcoming Fall Family Weekend. The event, scheduled for Oct. 12-14, will keep students and their families busy with the numerous activities WWU is offering.
“We always look forward to welcoming parents to campus,” Venita Mitchell, dean of student life, said. “This is their opportunity to see what their student’s college experience is like here at William Woods. I think parents appreciate meeting faculty, staff and students who are now an important part of their own student’s life.”
A large crowd is expected for Fall Family Weekend and other activities planned for the same days. The Office of Admissions will hold Autumn at the Woods for prospective students and their families. The Board of Trustees will be in town for a meeting, as well.
Two activities will be ongoing. The Faculty Art Exhibit, featuring recent works of faculty, will be open throughout the weekend. “The Pajama Game,” a WWU theatre production, will be performed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Friday activities start with a golf tournament at Tanglewood Golf Course. In the afternoon students and parents will have the opportunity to meet with faculty at the McNutt Campus Center.
Events on Saturday include a Parents’ Association Coffee, allowing WWU parents to meet one another and learn how the association benefits students.
The Fall Festival Horse Show, an annual favorite, will be held Saturday in the Benita Bancroft Equestrian Center, featuring Hunters/Jumpers, Western, Saddle Seat, Driving and Dressage.
Families can spend Saturday afternoon cheering on the WWU alumni baseball team, and also attending the wine tasting and music later that evening.
