Hosted by William Woods University’s Sport Management and Exercise Science Student Associations, the event is intended to promote health and wellness for the campus community and beyond.
Ethan O’Keefe, a WWU freshman from Ashland, Missouri, and president of the Sports Management Student Organization, explained why this year’s event is a Color Run: “The color provides a little more enjoyment for the participants. It will be more intriguing and memorable!”
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. in front of the McNutt Campus Center. The 5k will start at 10. Planned for both runners and walkers, the 5k allows participants to choose to be timed or untimed. An awards ceremony will follow the race.
The event is family-friendly, so children and dogs will be permitted. Those under 12 will be free, but must be accompanied by an adult. The registration fee is $5 for William Woods students and $10 for everyone else. The Woods Way 5k coincides with Woods 101, an event for new students coming to William Woods in the fall. Students registered for Woods 101 can participate in the 5k for $5.
Free t-shirts will be given to the first 100 registrants. Registration forms can be picked up in the Center for Human Performance, room 119, or can be completed until 9:55 on the morning of the event.
