Walt Disney World Internship a Dream Job for WWU Student

Every year William Woods University students intern at different companies that offer them real world experience, but few get to live out a dream.

Dana Juncker of Mt. Vernon, Ind., is doing just that by interning at Walt Disney World.

Juncker, a junior graphic design major with a business administration minor, has been interning at Walt Disney World since the beginning of the semester. During the paid internship she works at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort in the World Premiere Food Court.

“I believe that the Disney College Program is a great experience for anyone,” said Juncker. “Even though I may not be working a job that is directly related to my field, I am able to use the things I learn through this job for any career path I choose.”

She added, “I am learning how to effectively interact with guests, manage my time, and live on my own through this program.”

Juncker is also taking two classes through the Walt Disney World College Program — Organizational Leadership and Human Resource Management.

This isn’t the first time Juncker has been to Walt Disney World. She and her family have visited the theme park annually for the past six years. She became interested in the position at Walt Disney World after she talked to other students who had participated in the program. She also researched it on the internet.

To get the internship, she had to do an online information session and a phone interview. She also had an audition because she wanted a position in entertainment.

Juncker applied for a Professional Internship with the company in February, and she recently learned that she received it. She will be extending her stay in Florida as a Communications Planning Intern from June 2006 until January 2007.

In the future she would like to pursue a career with Disney, in graphic design or a related field.

At WWU, Juncker is active on campus. She is member of the Delta Chi Chapter of Alpha Phi International Fraternity and performs at several local and WWU events with Dance Ovations, a dance company located in Guthrie, Mo.
