U.S. News ranks William Woods high for online degree programs

online_class_girlU.S. News released its findings on the quality of online degree programs this week, and William Woods University ranked exceptionally high for Master of Education degrees offered through distance learning. WWU ranked fifth overall in Missouri and 188th in the country.

The report comes shortly after the release of rankings by OnlineColleges.net, which rated WWU first in affordability among colleges and universities offering online degrees in Missouri and 13th in Best Online Colleges in Missouri.

download“I am very excited about William Woods University receiving this recognition,” Dr. Betsy Tutt, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the graduate college, said.

“We are continuing to develop new online programs of study and to build quality into the curriculum. Online education will continue to grow in all of higher education. We plan to be a part of that growth.”

U.S. News based its ranking of approximately 300 schools with online programs on five general categories:

  • Student engagement (35 percent)
  • Student services and technology (20 percent)
  • Admissions selectivity (15 percent)
  • Faculty credentials and training (15 percent)
  • Peer reputation (15 percent)

William Woods offers a number of undergraduate degree programs online, including Associate Degree in Liberal Arts, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies and Bachelor of Science in Interpretation Studies in American Sign Language-English.

Online graduate degree programs are Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Leadership, Master of Education in Equestrian Education and Master of Education in Teaching and Technology.
