Heidi Glaus of NewsChannel 5 in St. Louis received the Alumni Award of Distinction during Alumni Weekend at William Woods University April 22-23.
The Alumni Award of Distinction was first presented in 1952 and honors an alumnus who has achieved national or international recognition in his or her chosen field.
After six years as a reporter and fill-in host for Show Me St. Louis, Glaus is now full-time host of the popular show. She began her relationship with NewsChannel 5 in the summer of 1996 as an intern and later landed a job as a production assistant for “Today In St. Louis.”
In July of 1997 Glaus was promoted to associate producer of Show Me St. Louis, became full-time reporter in 1998. After only one year as a reporter on Show Me St. Louis she was nominated for her first Emmy award. Three more nominations and a coveted Emmy followed.
Glaus grew up in New Madrid, Mo., and honed her skills in television production at William Woods University while competing on the university’s basketball and softball teams.
She graduated in December of 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in television and radio broadcasting. She also trained at The Broadcast Center in St. Louis Advance Studies in Broadcast Performance and Journalists, as part of her WWU education.
