William Woods University students in the visual, theatre and communications arts areas received achievement awards during annual portfolio reviews.
Students presented their portfolios to various faculty and staff members, as well as working professionals. They were judged on their presentation in a variety of categories, based on the work they’ve done while at WWU.
The purpose of the review is to assess the educational development and growth of the students and award those who have excelled in their field.
Eight visual art students were recipients: Lauren Rodewald, St. Peters, Missouri, and Emily Rogers of Ballwin, Missouri, professionalism; Ashley Meyer of Fulton, Missouri, creativity; Lisa Laughlin of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Sam DeBrodie of Fulton, Missouri, dedication to the arts; Lauren McBeth of Eolia, Missouri, and Crystal Olney of Fulton, Missouri, craftsmanship; and Isabella Long of Fulton, Missouri, writing and art history.
Three students earned awards in theatre: Joe Merlotti, St. Louis, Missouri, professional presentation; Melissa-Diane Williams, St. Louis, Missouri, dedication to craft; and Jon Meyer, Creve Coeur, Missouri, artistic growth.
In communications, four students received awards: Lindsey Cornelius, Archie, Missouri, professional presentation; Paige Stewart, Ballwin, Missouri, creativity; Valerie Scheirer, Naperville, Illinois, technical approach; and Kristen Bauer, St. Charles, Missouri, overall growth.
