William Woods University students in the art, theatre and communications areas recently received achievement awards during annual portfolio reviews.
Students presented their portfolios in front of various faculty and staff members, as well as working professionals. They were judged on their presentation in a variety of categories, based on the work they’ve done over the past four years at WWU.
“The purpose of the review is to assess the educational development and growth of the students and award those who have excelled in their respective field,” Paul Clervi, professor of art and chair of the division of arts and science, said.
Five students received honors in art: Sarah Chatham of Chatham, Ill., professional development; Alison Boudreau of Jefferson City, Mo., craftsmanship and design; Katie Binkley of Fulton, Mo., expression and creativity; Victor Calderon of Fulton, dedication to the arts, and Tracie Thompson of Black Jack, Mo., artistic growth.
Three students earned award in theatre: Taylor Davidson of Kansas City, Mo., professional presentation; Bethany Hall of Des Moines, Iowa, dedication to craft, and Allison Ward of Bartlett, Tenn., artistic growth.
Six students earned awards in communications. Kristin Garnett of Jefferson City, Mo., professional presentation; Caleb Chaney of Mexico, Mo., craftsmanship and design; Kristin Smith of San Francisco, Calif., expression and creativity; Bradley Dempsey of Bowling Green, Mo., dedication to the arts, and Morgan Presley of St. Louis, Mo., and Courtney Petersheim of Moberly, Mo., artist growth.
