William Woods University students in the art, theatre and communications areas recently received achievement awards during annual portfolio reviews.
Students presented their portfolios in front of various faculty and staff members, as well as working professionals. They were judged on their presentation in a variety of categories, based on the work they’ve done over the past four years at WWU.
“The purpose of the review is to assess the educational development and growth of the students and award those who have excelled in their respective field,” Paul Clervi, professor of art and chair of the division of arts and science, said.
Five visual art students were recipients of awards. They are: Nicole DeWoskin of Chesterfield, Mo., professional development; Veronica Myers of Mapleton, Ill., craftsmanship and design; Carol Diedriech of Holts Summit, Mo., expression and creativity; Katie Binkley of Fulton, Mo., dedication to the arts, and Jessica Bargate of Jefferson City, Mo., artistic growth.
Three students earned awards in theatre: Bethany Hall of Des Moines, Iowa, professional presentation; Dustin West of Kansas City, Mo., dedication to craft, and Allison Ward of Hazelwood, Mo., artistic growth.
Six students earned awards in communications. Tara Boehl of Washington, Ill., professional presentation; Kristin Garnett of Jefferson City, Mo., craftsmanship and design; Anthony Weed of Belton, Mo., expression and creativity; Elizabeth Arnold of Batesville, Ark., dedication to the arts, and Whitney Mysliwiec of Woodstock, Ill., artistic growth.
