Students Plan Auction to Bring Starbucks to WWU

Starbuck’s anyone? William
Woods University students not only like the brew, but they are impressed with the
global responsibility associated with the American coffeemaker.

Members of a student leadership organization, President’s
Twenty, are sponsoring an auction to bring Starbuck’s Coffee to campus. The
auction, which is open to
the public, will be held
Wednesday, March 27, in Tucker Dining
Hall.

A silent auction will be held
from 11:30 a.m. to approximately
12:30 p.m., when a
live auction begins. Auction items have been donated by WWU faculty, staff and
students. Money raised will provide assistance for The Owl’s Nest, located in
the McNutt Campus Center, to serve Starbuck’s Coffee.

Starbucks, a global coffee company and
coffeehouse chain based in Seattle, Wash., is the largest coffeehouse company
in the world, with 20,891 stores in 62 countries, including 13,279 in the
United States. Starbucks is primarily known for selling coffee, but also sells other
hot and cold beverages, pastries, sandwiches and other snacks.

President’s Twenty  is a collegiate honorary service society whose members
serve as the
university president’s
official ambassadors at university events. Members serve as official
honor and color guards at all
university convocations, commencements and other activities where needed. They
also act as liaisons between the
university president and
the student body, providing an avenue of
communication for each.
