Bernard W. Weitzman, a member of the William Woods University Board of Trustees since 1976, was named an Honorary Alumnus during Alumni Weekend April 22-23.
Honorary alumni are chosen in recognition of their distinguished personal achievement and outstanding community service.
Weitzman is an attorney for Friedman, Weitzman and Friedman in St. Louis, Mo. A longtime treasurer of the board, he currently serves as a member at large of the executive committee.
A member of the ABA and the National Association of College and University Attorneys, Weitzman has assisted William Woods for many years in the development of important institutional policies and procedures.
He established the Bernard Weitzman Scholarship Fund, and assisted in providing the campus-wide administrative/instructional computer system.
In 2000, in appreciation for all he has done for the university, William Woods dedicated its new model courtroom in his name.
