Alpha Chi Omega, a national sorority on the William Woods University campus, is planning two events in conjunction with the national “Take Back the Night” program. Both are scheduled for Thursday, March 20.
Take Back the Night is a program that is organized to unify communities in an awareness of violence against women, children and families. The event is a collaboration of interested persons who are ready to take a stand against violence and make the night safe for everyone.
The first event is a demonstration of self-defense techniques by a martial arts academy from Jefferson City. This will be from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Snack Bar of McNutt Campus Center. Faculty, staff and students are being encouraged to participate and not just observe.
As its philanthropy, Alpha Chi Omega supports programs against domestic violence and works closely with the Coalition Against Rape and Domestic Violence (CardV) in Fulton. A speaker from CardV will make a presentation at 7 p.m. in Dulany Auditorium. The program is free and open to the public.
