Softball team earns highest GPA in NAIA

nfcaThe Owls softball team’s 3.69 GPA ranks No. 1 in the NAIA and fourth of all colleges and universities in the nation, according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

“It’s great to see our players hard work in the classroom be recognized at the national level,” said head coach Tracy Gastineau. “Our team takes pride and sets team goals each year on the academic side of things and this achievement shows that dedication.”

The 3.69 GPA puts them fourth overall of all NCAA Division I, II, III and junior colleges. The team only trailed Aldephi (3.78), University of Bridgeport (3.77), and Emerson College (3.74).

The team will get its 2016 season underway on Feb. 19-20 at the St. Gregory’s Tournament.
