Schmuck Receives Order of the Owl

Jim Schmuck of Wildwood received the Order of the Owl Award during Alumni Weekend at William Woods University, April 22-23. The award is given to honor the spouse of an alumnus who has shown a special interest in promoting and supporting the activities of the university.


He is married to Judy Kuergeleis Schmuck, newly elected second vice president of the William Woods University Alumni Association Board of Directors. A 1972 graduate and longtime WWU supporter, she received the Outstanding Service Award from the university in 2000.


Jim Schmuck graduated from Westminster College in 1972 with a B.A. in English and physical education. He earned his A.M. in English and his Ph.D. in higher education administration from St. Louis University.


He has served on the Westminster College Board of Trustees since 1997, and is a member and past president of the Westminster College Alumni Council.


An English teacher at Parkway South High School since 1976, he also is an adjunct faculty member for St. Louis University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis.


Schmuck is the head cross country and track and field coach for men and women at Parkway South High School. He is a member of the executive committee and past president of the Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association.
