Sarah Hayden receives two major equestrian awards

Sarah Hayden of Farmington, Mo.,
is the recipient of two major awards
from the equestrian studies division at William Woods University.

She was recognized as the 2012
Distinguished Scholar in Equestrian Science,
an award based on academic achievement. Faculties of the various
disciplines may, but are not obliged to, designate graduating seniors as Distinguished
Scholars. Eligibility requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4; the
equestrian faculty also considers other relevant academic factors and variables
in the selection
process.

She also received the 2012 Dressage Appreciation
Award. Each year the
riding disciplines recognize outstanding graduating seniors in each discipline.

Karen Pautz, WWU clinical dressage
instructor, identified Hayden as one of the dressage
concentration’s go-to people.

“She is always ready to help where
help is needed, in the arena, in the classroom
and at the shows,” Pautz said.

Hayden graduated with a double major
(equestrian science and English) in only three
years.
