SAC Provides Leadership Opportunities for WWU Students

Eight William Woods University students are the new leaders of the Student Alumni Council at WWU.


Eliza PayneStudent Alumni Council (SAC) is lead by the presidents of each class. Senior class president is Liza Payne, a communications major from Zionsville, Ind. Junior class president is Jenna Brown, a history education and sports management double major from Fulton, Mo. Katherine Wortmann, an American Sign Language interpreting major from Mexico, Mo., is the sophomore class president.


Katie Gannon, a sophomore equestrian science major from St. Louis, Mo., is the treasurer. Melanie White, a senior elementary education major from Manhattan, Kan., is the secretary. Carmen Watchinski, a senior biology major from Columbia, Mo., is the publicity chair.


Erin White, a senior American Sign Language interpreting major from Sarasota, Fla., is the coordinator for finals snacks and outstanding students’ awards.


Officers of SAC are responsible for planning and organizing events that help students and alumni interact, as well as help students make the transition from student to alumnus. The council is also responsible for raising school spirit and community awareness of William Woods University.


This year SAC will sponsor the ivy ceremony, a tradition for all new students; court warming, to support the WWU basketball teams with games and events in the spring semester, and class-sponsored events such as movie night, tailgating dinner or Christmas caroling for the elderly.
