Riders from WWU Participate in Irish Fox Stables Show

William Woods University’s hunter/jumper discipline took 22 horses and 24 riders to the Irish Fox Stables show in Lake St. Louis, Mo., this last weekend (Feb 24-26).


According to Linda McClaren, associate professor of equestrian science, “Everyone had a good show, learned lots, won ribbons and made advances in horse/rider skill developments.”


Ashley Stannard of Plymouth, Maine, and Simon, were Champion in Adult Amateur hunters and Champion in Open Hunters. Stannard and Stanscorrected, took sixth place in Child/Adult jumper and fourth place in Level 3 jumper,


Nicole Kovanda of Maplewood, Minn., and Touche, were Reserve champion in Adult Amateur hunters. Kendall Gill of Columbus, Ohio, riding Reno earned a Championship in the Novice Adult hunter with two first places and a second place. Gill also earned fourth place in the Mini Medal.


Hillary Clark of Huntley, Ill., and Paris won a Reserve Championship in the Novice Adult Hunter division by winning a first and two second place ribbons.


Janelle Kessler of Eden Prairie, Minn., with French Kiss, took two first places in Level 3 jumpers and, with By George, took second place in novice jumpers.


Amara Packwood of Leavenworth, Kan., won the Missouri Horse Shows Association Adult Medallion on Meet Joe Black, with Amanda Smith of Fayette, Maine, in second place and Stannard earning third place honors.

Other results include Whitney Mysliwiec of Woodstock, Ill., and Touch of Class, fourth place in Novice Jumpers and fourth place in novice rider jumpers; Sarah Popelka of Clayton, Mo., and Rum Point, second place in Child/Adult Jumper; Jon McCarthy of Rockford, Ill., and Netherlands, third place in Child/Adult Jumper; Jessica Billham of Wright City, Mo., and Jackalope, took fourth place in Child/Adult jumper and a third and a fifth place in training jumpers.


Amanda Seiner of Walla Walla, Wash., and Hancocks Sport Model won a first place and a fourth place ribbon in the Beginner Rider hunters over fences. Sarah Dyer of Raytown, Mo., and Captiva won three second places and a third place in the beginner rider hunter division.


Nichole Peatross of Duchesne, Utah, and This Time Around won a second and a third in the Limit Rider Adult over fences. Rachael Hill of Carrollton, Texas, and Charmed won a second, third, and fourth place ribbons in the Limit Rider Adult division and won a first place ribbon in the Limit Rider Equitation on the flat.


Nathan Simpson of Middleton, Ind., and Perfect Pizzazz won a fourth place ribbon in the Limit Rider Adult Hunter over fences. Chelsea Bouse of Tulsa, Okla., and Reno won a sixth place ribbon in the Limit Rider Hunter. Lacie Hewlett of Deer Park, N.Y., and Charmed earned awards in the Open Hunter division.
